Remote Working – Are you Ready for the New Normal

As the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic sinks in, thoughts are beginning to move to the future effect upon our businesses and working lives.

Inevitably some talk of “returning to normal” but is this possible or wise now we’re aware that most commerce can be stopped in its track, a phenomenon most would have dismissed in an instant a few short months ago.

Where once business could pay lip service to the obvious benefits of electronic working, this is no longer a nice to have, but critical to operating in the new World before us. Can any sensible organisation consider a move back to the way we operated pre Covid – 19 and risk being caught flat footed again?

The worst health crisis in a century has forced us to look very differently at the way we operate and in so doing has blown away the myth that employees cannot be trusted to deliver away from the office environment – they can and indeed have, fully embracing the flexibility and much improved work/life balance it brings, a belief long held by younger generations.

Clearly providing a flexible working environment can only be achieved if employees have access to both the information and processes necessary to work efficiently. Many companies have long since undertaken such a change and managed the current position without really breaking stride whilst others have experienced significant difficulties in trading with potentially catastrophic consequences.

Without proper solutions in place, companies run the risk that employees are operating in a potentially chaotic manner and without the necessary aspects of security and compliance.

Analysts are increasingly of the view that now the remote working genie is out of the bottle it is increasingly unlikely we will return to our ways of working prior to the lockdown. Add to this the demonstrable benefits to staff morale and the potentially enormous savings to be derived from a huge reduction in office space, it is increasingly difficult to make a case for a return to “business as usual”.

Drawing on decades of experience we have a wealth of knowledge in delivering solutions which ensure employees are able to maintain undiminished productivity within a remote environment.  These solutions are mirrored to replicate working methods and processes identical to those previously adopted within the office.

Any program of change inevitably has a cost however it is difficult to imagine an easier ROI in living memory.
